Welcome to the Weekly Newsletter from Sunrise Valley Wellness!
If you’re new to the mailing list, I’m so excited and honoured to have you here! If you’ve already been receiving emails from me, I’m just as excited and honoured that you’re still here! Congratulations on taking the first steps towards stepping into your authentic self and realizing your purpose.
For anyone who doesn’t know me yet, my name is Cassandra, but I typically go by Cass. I live in a beautiful mountain town in BC, Canada, called Creston. It’s a wide valley with a river running through it that is surrounded by patchwork farmland. The sun rises over the stunning Skimmerhorn range, and sets West of us towards the Selkirk mountains. Watching this sunrise for the past 5 years that I have lived here is what inspired the name for my business. It’s always been a warm and wonderful feeling, knowing I am blessed to see that sunrise anytime I want to. It’s given me hope in times of trouble, and never failed to fill me with joy and wonder.
We have an unusually warm climate here, and there are vineyards and orchards galore. It’s a strong community, with plenty of local food, and a very big heart. Maybe it’s something about this place and its capacity to grow, but living here has offered me more expansion of myself than I ever could have imagined.
As I grow my business and platform, I am reminded each day of how grateful I am that I am here. I can tell you, I would never have known a year ago that I would be in such a balanced and exciting moment in my life today. This time last year, I was doing the same thing that I’ve always done – doing what I had to, to get by.
This included:
· Tolerating things that did not align with my values
· Going to work at a job that was solid, safe, and completely unfulfilling for me
· Going to weekly therapy sessions, but not doing the extra work I should have been doing in the space between sessions
· “Going through the motions” and staying in a limiting headspace where I was not believing I was meant for anything other than getting by in my career
· Buffering my dissatisfaction using alcohol, marijuana, exercise, social media, or TV shows, depending on how I felt that day
· Inadvertently isolating from my community by burying myself in chores and convincing myself I was too tired or broke to do anything new
Does any of this sound familiar to you?
One of my favourite things to examine with clients as an internationally Certified Professional Life Coach/Addiction and Recovery Coach are limiting beliefs. These are the convictions we have about ourselves that we hold to be absolute truths, but are actually the things that hold us back. They live unaddressed in our thoughts and actions. They are negatively governing background noise, until you start to listen to them.
Some examples of limiting beliefs might sound like this:
· “I’m just not good at ____________ (public speaking, athletics, writing… etc).”
· “I’m an introvert, I could never put myself out there like that.”
· “Play the cards you’re dealt; that’s how life goes.”
· “I’m not smart/fit/brave/funny enough to do that.”
· “I’m too old.”
· “Change is dangerous and scary.”
· “I don’t know how.”
· “I don’t have time.”
· “I would need _________ in place before I could ever do _________.”
· “I’m too scared.”
Have you thought these thoughts before?
What are the thoughts that you are thinking right now that are holding you back?
Listen to what’s happening in your mind as you think about growth. What are you hearing yourself think when you consider making a change?
Are they useful thoughts?
Are they productive?
Are they helpful, or hurtful?
How can you change the thought to something more useful?
What might happen if you were able to correct that thought continuously?
When you enter a coach-client partnership with me, these are the kinds of things we will be examining. There is so much to learn about yourself, and the ways in which you might be holding yourself back. Together, we will slowly but surely start to explore your life. I will be there to hold the flashlight if you’re in a dark place. I will walk with you while you decide which direction you want to go. And when you’re ready to take a step up to the next level, I will be there to give you a boost.
Nothing gives me as much joy as seeing people realize how incredible they are.
Reach out to me if you are ready to start living your life, on purpose.
